U2 will be playing at Slane Castle in Ireland on 25 August 2001. The band last
played at Slane Castle twenty years ago supporting Thin Lizzy. It is their
first appearence in Ireland since the PopMart Landsdowne Road concerts four years
ago.
Special guests will include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, Kelis,
JJ72 and Relish.
Larry Mullen said: "We've waited a long time to do this, it's going to be a beautiful
day."
U2's Elevation 2001 Tour which kicks off in Miami at the end of March. The dates
for the European leg of the tour have not yet been announced.
Tickets for the 10 hour, one day music festival at Slane Castle are priced at £36.50 plus
